Five Months & Fabulous

Wednesday, September 30

Lola is 5 months old today.  and let me tell you... she is already a handful!  I love this precious little thing more and more everyday.  I have decided that since Miss Lolacakes is 5 months, it's time to move her into her crib.  So, last night was the first night that she stayed in her room.  It takes a lot of effort to get her to go to sleep!  She woke up at 2am to eat, but that's ok with me!  Then she was back down after a bit of fussing, then back up at 6:15, but not really ready to get up, then back down and finally up at 8:30am on her own.   So, a lot of effort, like I said!

Napping is another story. She did take a 30 minute nap today in her bead. Then took an afternoon nap in her swing... I can't do it all in one day people!

Here is her 5 month photo shoot...She's not too sure about the shades.

Look at those tongues... Like brother, like sister

Angelo had some jello at dinner... Not sure if he actually got any into his mouth...

Sweet Babies

Monday, September 28

I made Angelo that stuff called "Glak or Glek or Obleck??"  It has different names.  It's basically cornstarch and water and food coloring.  It is a solid when you squeeze it and a liquid when you let it go.  So, he had fun playing with that this morning and making a huge mess.  Oh well, entertainment at least!

It was SO nice outside today.  A little windy, but perfect day to sit on a blanket in the backyard under a tree.  So, that's what we did.  My dad came over and hung out with us.  Angelo showed him how to play soccer and t-ball.  Then we just lounged around.  Lola didn't really like the wind hitting her face.  It took her breath away. :)

I was trying to hurry and make dinner so I put Lola in the high chair and the next thing I know someone is wheeling her down the hall.  Hey, at least no one was screaming, so I let this continue.  He would walk her down and back, down and back.  With only a few minor collisions into the walls...

Arbor Days

Saturday, September 26

Today was Arbor Days in Westlake. Which meant we got to have a party in our neighborhood. We pulled up and the first thing we saw was the firetruck. Which, of course, is one of Angelo's favorites! I had to get a pic!

He kept saying, "CHEEEEESE!" so we tried to teach him to just smile and not say cheese! So, We got a few good shots!

We HAD to get one with the ambulance too! He insisted!
Had to go fishin' with daddy!
Love this pic! Daddy teaching him how it's done...

Dom's fish! probably will throw this back until it gets bigger!

Love these laughing boys. They got to do some arts and crafts at the festival.
Showing their "works of art". I think racoon tracks? painted and glittered up.
We got to take Angelo up in this hot air balloon. He wasn't scared at all! He really enjoyed it. But the fire was really HOT and really Loud! WE could see it from our backyard. Awesome at night.

Nice Socks

Thursday, September 24

Poor Lola is going to be so embarrassed one day when her daddy dresses like this and her friends come over... and yes, those are 2 pairs of socks... remember that old song, "Things that make you go Hmmmm???"

Sunday with the kids

Sunday, September 20

Today was the debut of the new Cowboys stadium in a game vs. the Giants. I, of course, didn't get to go... but Rudy did! What fun! He gets to do all the fun things. Did I mention last week he was in VEGAS and BOSTON?? Lucky boy once again! Lucky mama who gets to stay home with her sweet babies! He's just missin' out on all our fun! First smiles, first bike pedals, laughing at silly brothers!! Here's the kids watching the game.
Lola sat in Angelo's old high chair for the first time today for her cereal. I think she really liked it. But then I washed the cushion and it totally ripped apart... So, now I have to buy a new high chair for Lola. But that's OK. She needs a pink one anyways.

Saturday with the kids

Saturday, September 19th

Today was a long day. I'd like to think I get the weekends "off". Meaning, I can have a little alone time shopping or reading or sleeping. Rudy gets some off time, so I should too. Apparently that is not in the mom handbook for every weekend. It should be.

Today started off bad. Angelo left with Rudy to go to "wuk". I don't think he ever made it. When they came home Angelo had a new haircut... a MOHAWK! I mean, seriously??!? NO I made them march right back up there and cut that crap out. So now my poor child is almost bald. At least it will grow back! Hopefully quickly!
We had lunch today over at Rocco's. The kiddos and the moms got to stay inside and play games and the boys got to have adult conversations outside and watch games on tv. The kids and I can only take so much excitement, so we decided to call it a day and head home for naps after about 4.5 hours. These babies were tired. Rudy stayed over there with his family for the rest of the day/night drinking wine, having good food and watching games. Lucky boy.

My bald boy
After naps, we headed over to Mimi and Pa pas house with the promise of firetrucks at a block party... well, since Angelo had such a late nap, we missed the firetruck (oops!) . But he did have fun bouncing in a bounce house. Pa pa watched Lola (by himself!) while we were down there! We watched some of the Tech game and then I decided it was time to tackle bedtime... except one problem. Angelo didn't want to leave. He told me, "Mommy, GO!" So, I went... with Lola. I kept expecting a phone call to come back and get him, but no. He actually stayed at my parents for the first time by himself and LOVED IT! All the attention was on him of course. And mommy had no major breakdowns leaving him. Thank god for grandparents! Can't wait until Lola can stay too! LOL

Dinner Debacle

Friday, September 18

I almost had a night alone... so close!! My mom said she would babysit Lola and Rudy was going to take Angelo out on the boat with his family... well, not sure what happened, but we all ended up at Central Market for dinner. I usually have a pretty good experience at CM with the fam... but not tonight. It started with me trying something new to eat. I got the chipotle (first clue) wrapped chicken sandwich. I don't like spicy things so not sure what I was thinking. Then the meltdowns started. First Lola. She needed to be held the entire time we were there... Next was Angelo. He didn't want to eat, only play outside. When we made him come in to eat, he threw himself on the floor for a tantrum!! WOW. Love this part. Should have just left the kids at home with my mom and went to Truluck's with my husband. But that would have meant we would have to spend time together and no one wanted us to apparently! Next time...

So Thrilled??

Wednesday, September 16

Another rainy day!! YIKES! I actually let Angelo go play in the rain today just to get him outside!
Don't they look thrilled to be taking their pic?
Mimi got him some new Thomas the Train PJs that he is so proud of...

Big Bathtub?

Tuesday, September 15

Our pool guy should be FIRED!! I don't think this normal?!

Oh wait! There he is now. Doesn't look like we can add "pool technician" to Rudy's resume!! We will be calling in the experts from now on!

What I didn't get a pic of was about 3 min. later the pole broke in half and the brush fell off into the deep end of the pool...

Stir Crazy in the Casa

Monday, September 14

I think my children are going a little stir crazy with all the rain! This is the fourth day in a row it's been raining. And not being able to go outside is driving us all a little nuts! LOLBut cookies help!

Lola's Little Tooth

Sunday, September 13th

Late last night I was feeling around in Lola's mouth (isn't that what all mom's do??) and discovered that sweet little Lola has her first tooth coming in! Bottom left! This is why poor baby has been drooling and a little fussy. Baby girl's got a tooth! Not sure I can get a pic of it just yet. It's barely there! Everything goes in her mouth these days! Even her toes!

Rocco's B-day Party

Saturday, Septmber 12

We celebrated Rocco's (Angelo's cousin) 2nd birthday today at their house. Angelo had a great time. He loves Rocco! When you ask him who his best friends are... his answer now is Rocco and Dominic! lol We played, ate, opened presents and then played some more! Here are a few pics of the night. I could have sworn I took more pics, but guess not!

Angelo in his cute party hat!

Rocco's cool new loader that Angelo LOVED!

The kids in their Italia shirts. Mattie's and Lola's faces are priceless!

Cool helicopter cake!

It's Raining Butterflies on Paradise Pond

Friday, September 11

We were supposed to have a play date today at the park with McKenna and Jace, but when we woke up this morning it was raining. Since we were already in Grapevine, we decided to go to Paradise Pond. It's an old sanctuary at the First Baptist Church of Grapevine. Angelo was amazed at all the trucks they had. He had a great time playing. The only slight problem was leaving. Angelo wanted to take this 'mixer' with us and when I wouldn't let him he had a full blown meltdown! Love those terrible twos! Next time I will go prepared with a stash of trucks in my purse to entice him out the door! These next two pics are with my iphone... excuse the poor quality! I had forgotten my camera! YIKES!

in amazement of all the trucks!
Intense concentration

This evening Lola, Angelo and I headed out to the Southlake Butterfly "Festival" (if that's what they call a festival??!... it's just a tent) to meet up with Dominic, Mattie and Mandy. Angelo enjoyed seeing the butterfly and catching them on his stick. Apparently they eat watermelon, so if you hook some watermelon on the stick they will stay there for a little bit. A new experience at least for us.

Angelo got a butterfly balloon after... not sure why, but he wanted a pink one! lol Too many pink things around here these days...or not enough daddy time??!. Well, his balloon lasted all of about 4 minutes. He kept putting it in the grass so it would pop. Pretty soon, nothing left!

After we decided to go to Mi Cocina to eat. Lola pretty much screamed the entire time. It was way too loud for her. She did enjoy a brief minute looking at herself in the mirror. Thank God for Mandy since she had to entertain Angelo and feed him since I was busy dealing with Lola the whole time. Ok, so we are at Mi Cocina and we take a look outside and it's POURING down rain. Hmmmm. How is this going to work I'm thinking in my head??? I have a baby, a stroller and a two year old that I have to somehow get in the car and get home before more meltdowns ensue. Well, thank God for Mandy once again. She didn't even hesitate to say, "GIVE ME YOUR KEYS! I'll go get your car!" I mean, really? How awesome is that? She ran out to my car and parked it right in front and put the stroller in for me??!! Then took Angelo and put him in while I took Lola. Poor Mandy was drenched to say the least! (too bad I don't have a picture of that!lol) I offered to take her to her car, but she just said, "Hey, I'm already wet!" LOL So, it was an experience to say the least!!! Next time we should probably check the forecast.

Lola's 4 month checkup

Lola had her 4 month checkup today. Here were her stats:

Weight: 13.14 lbs. (50%) Not as plump as we thought!
Height: 24 inches (50%) Not model height yet!

I looked back at Angelo's stats from his four month check up and he weighed 15 lbs (90%) and was 25 inches. Our little chunky monkey. So, even though Uncle Tony calls her tri-thigh, she didn't have the girth of her big bro!

She had to get one oral "shot" medication in her mouth and then one shot on her left thigh. She did really well. No crying. She was looking at me smiling and while being distracted by mom the nurse did her thing. I don't even think she realized that she got the shot. She still has to get one more that we will have to go back for another time. National shortage.

She does have eczema like her mama. She got some steriod cream for her neck (she had a rash) and in the creases of her elbows. Should be cleared up soon.

Lola is just the prettiest baby girl that I've ever seen. Her big blue eyes and her sweet little curled up eyelashes. She is just so precious. It's nice to get some alone time with her while Angelo is in school. This is our mommy/daugter bonding time. We just sit quietly at home or go out shopping.

Mommy had a little incident today while out shopping. I went and bought 2 new pairs of cute ballet flat shoes for the start of fall (no high heels in my future). Well, after my purchase, we are walking out the door and I hit my toe on Lola's stroller. My toenail immediately starts GUSHING blood. I bent the whole thing back and now it's just hanging on by some skin. It looks awful and hurts! It also is effecting the way I walk! I think I need some reconstructive plastic surgery done on my toenail. I'm just going to have to wrap it up so I don't hit it on anything and see what happens. If this is going to be a six month process, how am I going to go get pedicures??? Now I'm not sure if I should take my cute shoes back or what. It's going to hurt to wear closed toed shoes, but also going to be dangerous to wear only flip flops for fear of someone stepping on my toe or god forbid I get an infection. Jeez! At least summer is almost over so I can hide my ugly toe for the winter.

Happy Labor Day!

Monday, September 7

Started out as a lazy Labor day. I decided I would try to take advantage of this holiday today and not "work". Isn't that the point of Labor day? To take a day off of work?? Rudy didn't have to work today, so I shouldn't have to either!! Well, it seems this holiday does not apply to moms. I learned how to successfully make an omelet today. I have NEVER been able to make an omlet before. It always turns into scrambled eggs! But with a little coaching and flipping by Uncle Tony, I think I have them down! So excited! Now I can make these anytime. Next time we have a house guest, I know what we are having for breakfast. After breakfast we took a swim in the pool. This was a rare occassion that mamma actually got in her bathing suit and let someone take her picture! Definitely not bikini season over here!
Nanni came over and brought lunch today. Yummy hamburgers and hotdogs from Central Market. She also helped out with the laundry (AMAZING! thanks Carol!) (since I was on Labor day) and I actually got about a 5 minute nap in... seriously, 5 min. that was it!

Once Nanni went home, I thought that would be it for our visitors, but then all of a sudden we had a houseful. Which really isn't a bad thing. All the kiddos came over for dinner. Aunt Raquel and Uncle Oscar brought over dinner and cooked! Filets, nonetheless! (I could get used to this Labor Day thing!!) Mandy, Frankie, Dominic, Madison, and Rocco all came over too. The kiddos played in the playroom and had a great time! It is so nice that we all live so close together now! We get to see the cousins anytime we want! We have some lucky little kids!
